We began with Dixie Belle’s No Pain Gel Stain in Walnut and Espresso, bringing back the warm, timeless tones that form its foundation. But the real personality emerged with the details. The bold Terra Clay Paint in Malachite on the handles acts as a modern jolt of energy, a deliberate contrast to the vintage form.
To bridge these worlds, a touch of Gilding Wax in Gold was carefully applied, tying everything together with a subtle, glamorous finish.
The final touch was inspired by the text we found and preserved: the enigmatic “Ne Nora” and the poetic “小熊梦蝶”—a classical Chinese fable about the illusion of reality, asking whether Zhuang Zhou dreamed he was a butterfly, or the butterfly dreamed it was Zhuang Zhou.
It’s a piece that invites you to look closer, to touch the grain, and to ponder. It proves that with the right products and a little vision, you can not only restore furniture—you can give it a new soul.
